Never let the old man be forgotten. This post is all about Amcha Baap Ani Amhi, a story written by Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh. The story starts with an old man named Dadaji. Dadaji lives his life without any significance in the society, always feeling invisible and irrelevant to anything that happens around him. He is not able to enjoy his solitary one day off from work when he spends it all day trying to get a cellphone charger from a store nearby but they don’t have any in stock. He later goes to a restaurant and gets his meal with the leftover food. After this, he goes to meet a friend of his. He meets a girl named Reshma Khanam who is a teacher of maths at a school in Jamshedpur. She had moved to Jamshedpur from Delhi for her job just few months ago and is yet to get used to living in this new city of Jamshedpur. The two get close friends, the two get married and have two children. The story is about how all the experiences of Reshma Khanam shaped her personality and the way she behaves in the future based on her past memories. Reshma Khanam is a typical middle class girl who never experienced any real struggles in life. The story starts when she moves to an unknown city... Reshma was a happy person who had a brilliant academic career and a satisfying life with good family values, good education and a great job, but she decided to move from Delhi to Jamshedpur(India) due to her father’s job transfer. She went there only for an academic tenure which is just for 3 years before she can get another job in her home country. Reshma never dated any boy before she moved there, but after moving to Delhi Reshma got attracted by a guy. Reshma was quite shy so she never talked to him openly but more of showing her affection. She believes in love at first sight so she agreed to get engaged with him right away even though he did not have good family values. The reason was that they were married in an extremely religious way with stones which are supposed to bring luck and happiness for both of them. After 2 months in the city she asked him for a meeting and got shocked to know that his father had given him a mobile phone. He had bought the phone with money he earned from gambling and she was shocked to hear this. After knowing his past, Reshma started asking questions to her new husband about his past life style. After some time and meeting of her old friends and their children, she decided to go back home to Delhi. She told her family secretly that she had problems with her job and her boss had not paid attention after 3 months of working in the office of the company where she was working.
